Sunday Service – Oct 17th

Hope everyone has had a good week. Happy Harvest Thanksgiving to all. We are blessed to have the Rev. Joanne Warman leading us in worship today. Our service today is referred to as Ante Communion, following the format of the Communion Service ending prior to the Eucharist.

You will notice some major changes in our service today. The Diocese has amended COVID protocols to allow fully vaccinated choristers to sing as long as they are masked,  2 meters from each other & 4 meters from any members of the congregation. In addition, preachers, readers & intercessors may remove their masks while speaking, as long as they maintain a distance of 4 meters from others. There are a few news items in the “Announcements” so please take a moment to read them. The readings, music & announcements are attached. Remember to use the Zoom link sent out two weeks ago…please reply to this email before 8:00 am Sunday if you don’t have it & it will be sent to you again.

Take care.

Fundraiser: A virtual walk of the Camino de Santiago

Welcome to the St John’s Virtual Walk-a-thon 2021. Since we enjoyed our virtual walk to St. John’s NL last year, we decided to embark on another virtual journey together. This time we are going to do the pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago. There are several different routes but I have chosen what is thought to be the closest to the original route of St. James, beginning in Oveido, Spain and ending in Santiago de Compostela.

The total walk is 320 km and typically pilgrims complete the walk in 14 days, an average of 23 km per day. If we have a team of walkers, we should be able to easily complete the walk over a 3-week period, beginning on September 13 and ending on October 3. This will allow us more flexibility in our walking schedules. Once the team is in place, I can let each of you know how many walkers we have.

I will provide a daily update of where we are on our journey, as we retrace the steps of St. James.

If you wish, you may ask for sponsorship from friends and family to support the Parish & our walkers on our journey. Receipts for income tax purposes will be issued for any donation of $10.00 or more. I have attached a sponsorship sheet for you to keep track of your supporters.

Please let me know ( on or before September 13 if you wish to participate in our virtual pilgrimage, either as a walker or a sponsor. Thank you,GailSt. John’s Anglcian Church
